Here I've experimented by building the drawing of a moving horse using layers of chinese ink, touches of charcoal and flashes of white acrylic to emphasize the movement. It is drawn on the reverse side of unstretched canvas and would transport rolled in a tube. (please note that on the other side of the canvas is an old painting study which didn't work out). Would recommend it is framed behind glass/perspex as there isn't enough space around the image to put it on a wooden stretcher.

Taking a lot of inspiration from old masters, particularly from the Rococo/Baroque era, I'm especially drawn to the composition, colors & fabrics and like to put my contemporary twist on it. Painting in a very expressive way, abstract elements are explored in these figurative subjects and the spaces in between. Using a variety of media such as acrylic, charcoal, plaster & pastel I'm constantly experimenting with textures & layers to convey flow & movement. Throughout my artistic career I've exhibited widely across the UK and Europe in both group and solo shows, as well as having work regularly published. My work can be found in private collections around the world from Europe, US & Canada, to the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Puerto Rico & Mexico. www.laurarathe.com Instagram: mandyracine9584
