IDUNN, Preserved youth Drawing

Idunn, allegory of youth, is the wife of Bragi, the God of poetry and artists. She is also the creator of the rune alphabet used in the divining arts and magic. Asyn both celestial and solar, she lives in the upper part of the Yggdrasil tree. If life is particularly noticeable in nature during the summer, regularly, every year, Idunn falls to the world of Hel in winter and fall causing a slowing down of life, and goes back there only in the spring dragging with her the revitalization of the living. The apple, fleshy and nutritious fruit symbolizes this vitality. Also, the goddess Idunn is essentially the guardian of the golden apples, lavishing youth and eternal strength on all those who eat them. The name of the goddess Idunn probably means "the one who rejuvenates » or « who renews". Although she is discreet in Nordic mythology, her role is essential. She must not be neglected, and so it was with its absence, quickly noticed when the gods began to weaken, blanch, lose their vigor : to grow old, all mortals they were. It was thus a capital issue to rescue Idunn, then abducted by the giant Tjyaji. Not without Loki's intervention. The vitality is seasonal, the vigor declining. Life is omnipresent and regenerates but must be preserved and maintained because it is limited.
