I have been commissioned to create 6-10 large scale portraits for the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, North West of Sydney. These works are for an exhibition titled 'Time Leaves its Mark'. 'The exhibition aims to explore ideas and experiences of ageing in our society, to challenge negative perceptions around ageing, to explore the different attitudes of men and women to Ageing, and to have fun with notions of graceful versus disgraceful ageing.' Elissa Blair, Gallery Curator Born 1952,Nowra New South Wales, Australia. Currently lives in Morts Estate, NSW. Fine Artist and painter of the human form and portraiture. The two art disciplines I work in are painting and drawing. My preferred medium is oil on canvas and I like to use a mixed media approach to drawing and drawing with pastels both oil and chalk . My inspiration for subject matter is based on portraiture, the human figure and I am currently doing a portrait of Harold Hunt, Aboriginal author and activist and at the same time a second portrait of Kate Bracks, the 2011 Winner of the Australian 'Masterchef' series. Other subject matter I paint includes landscape, still life and genre. In 2012 I exhibited at the Swiss Art Space in Lausanne Switzerland and was published in a 65 page Catalogue for that exhibition. In 2016 I was included in the French publication '40 Maitres du Pastel', Pratique des Arts. In 2016 I was included in the Spring Edition of Oz Arts Magazine with a 10 page review of my artwork. In 2017 I have been commissioned by the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery in Windsor N.S.W. to produce 6-10 pastel portrait drawings for an exhibition titled 'Time Leaves its Mark'. The exhibition aims to explore ideas and experiences of ageing in our society, to challenge negative perceptions around ageing, to explore the different attitudes of men and women to ageing, and to have fun with notions of graceful versus disgraceful ageing.
