'L'homme tête en l'air' is part of my series 'Nowness in B&G'. I painted it in my Brooklyn studio as I stumbled across a couple of old nude photographs and particularly loved the pose of this man.

This drawing of a man seemingly headless or with his head buried in his chest refers to our own quest for evasion and aspirations. Without a head, the body looks mostly like an unanimated stone. The head, absent from the picture, has in its place a golden dove flying away with grace. A metaphor for our wishes and the desire we have to free ourselves from our concern and worries.

The title borrowed from a French saying is a wordplay that translates literally by 'The floating head man' when the saying actually means 'The head in the clouds man'. A reference to the bird in the place of his head flying towards the sky.

The series 'Nowness in B&G' (B&G stands for Black & Gold) regroups several small sizes works of this nature that capture nowness in society. It can be based on personal photographs of everyday life or images I am captured by. This series began in 2019.

TECHNICAL DETAILS
Some parts of the painting have liquid gold which gives the drawing another dimension under different lightings (see other pictures).
The artwork is sold as-is, signed, on paper, ready to be framed and ships rolled.

Best known for his cross-cultural approach, Oscar Lett stands out by his bold looking paintings prominently using black and contrasting metallic colours. Based in NYC, the Parisian artist loves to embrace the influences of the countries he lived in. After moving to London to study at Central Saint Martins, Oscar then moved to Kyoto as he sought teaching from the masters of Nihonga (traditional Japanese painting). Appropriating each culture and their aesthetics, O.L. developed a unique style depicting a world where opposites can coexist and where people overcome their struggles in impossible urban jungles. Working in large-scale and always craving bigger, Oscar naturally moved to New York in 2016 and made the street his new playground. Since then Lett has been developing a wide portfolio of murals in Europe and the U.S., allowing his fine art and street art practices to inspire one another.
