Series of small landscapes has been created during my 3 months winter stay in the mountains. My life has been intertwined with nature and its laws, and depended on it. I have been staying far away from civilization, with only fire at my disposal. Taking care of the fire meant having warmth, food and light… This time of internal silence provoked experiments in drawing. I have been drawing only from nature, on mountain paths, hence small sizes of the drawings. At times I have been drawing just after sunset, not seeing any colours, only contours, lines and smudges. To see the result of my work I had to wait for a sunrise the next day. Inspired by this process I’ve decided to go the next step and draw at night - without seeing what I am creating at all, but instead feeling pulsating, wild night life in the mountains. Local inhabitants say that wolves visit the pathways at night and on misty days the mountains have been stolen. On such days I’ve been drawing inside the house or flora visible from my windows.

I usually create series that vary in subject matter. I like to explore one theme and search for nuances in it until I feel satisfaction or find new inspiration. I create out of necessity, my art reflects my journey, its steps, inner life... Creating mainly from within, I often come face to face with emptiness. These moments are difficult, but they are the beginning of something new. I create by staring into my own fear, each time I feel the urge to take another step. I take that step because I cannot repeat patterns. This is how I understand the act of creation. It means that among the images that want to be painted by me, there are many different subjects and styles, and I hope I always have enough courage to be surprised by what wants to be expressed. I take winding, uncomfortable paths. I do not walk the same path because, although it is more difficult, it is more interesting. I hope you will become my friend and companion on this journey. 'I think that if artists were allowed to choose their own labels, most of them would choose none.' Ben Shahn 'The painting does not come from the easel. It comes from the soul of the artist. The painting has its own life. I am just trying to let it come through.' Jackson Pollock
