This freestanding cast glass slab/sculpture is the second in an exploratory collection of work formed from a drawing/painting executed on silk, laminated to glass. The light shines and is reflected through the image, softening it and creating a feeling of depth. The subject is a small terracotta statuette of a shepherdess.

Tony Roberts was born in Kent in 1946. His professional career as an artist started early, working with pen and brush as a young monk. Now, in retirement and long out of monastic life, his artistic practice has greatly expanded, including glass sculptures and canvas works in private and public collections worldwide, mostly to commission. Much of his current work involves multiple disciplines and media in each single work.
