My name is Poppy, and I was born in 1987 on the beautiful island of Chios. From an early age, the island’s natural beauty and intricate landscapes captivated me. Its serene beaches, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, majestic rocks, and towering mountains became a source of endless inspiration. It was here that my calling as an artist emerged during my childhood. I have always felt a deep urge to capture fleeting moments, recreate scenes that moved me, and translate emotions—whether from a glance, a face, or the essence of an entire situation—into art. Painting has always been my way of turning dreams into reality. Motivated by Chios’ beauty, I spent countless hours honing my skills, particularly in portraiture, during my teenage years. This self-driven progress was later enhanced through specialized courses at Bolton's Art School, which equipped me with advanced techniques. Now, I strive to express my unique perspective through my paintings, capturing the elusive essence of a moment or a scene. My mission as an artist is to harness the transformative power of light, offering viewers an opportunity to heal and connect with their inner selves. Through my art, I aim to present light in its most sublime forms, allowing it to flow through the observer with every glance, inspiring them to reach their own true light. These paintings are intended to become a gateway for self-reflection, encouraging contemplation and a deeper understanding beyond surface observation. (On a more personal note…) How can one describe themselves to someone unfamiliar? How do we convey who we are without the other person shaping an image of us based on their own background and experiences? Can you truly see clearly? What inspires me most is the profound power of being present—the ability to observe the "now." How clear can the eye see? How focused can the mind truly be? As J. Krishnamurti said, "The ability to observe without evaluating is the highest form of intelligence."
