About The Artwork

This is part of a series of miniature drawings called Memento Mori, which means "remember death" in latin. The human experience is about waking up to the reality of ourselves, our lives, our potentials and I think very importantly the choices we make. The more deeply we look at everything, the more informed our choices become and the more options we become aware of. I don't see a contemplation of death as a morbid or pessimistic thing, rather a desire for a life well lived. This piece, number 6, is under glass in a circular, hand made, reclaimed wooden frame with a gold leaf inner edge.

b 1977 I am deeply interested in human nature and understanding the principles that move our behaviors, desires, intentions and awareness. I love real beauty and genuine kindness, which I believe to be correlated and difficult to see clearly. It takes real depth. I live in Venice Beach, California near the ocean.
