Born in Athens, Greece in 1989, Zak Kirakosian is an Armenian abstract artist currently based in London, United Kingdom. Zak’s artistic journey commenced with early exposure to the rich world of arts, igniting a profound passion for creativity. This early spark guided him through five years of specialized courses in Fine Arts at the AGBU Institute of Cyprus. He returned to Athens and graduated with a Bachelor of Art & Design at AKMI Metropolitan College. Fascinated with art and art making, he decided to move to the United Kingdom where he studied Philosophy of Art & Humanities at the University of Edinburgh. Zak Kirakosian explored the rich spectrum of problems, concepts and theories raised across the entirety of art history, beginning with the art produced by the advanced cultures of ancient societies through today’s contemporary art. Having acquired a complete idea of some of the major issues in aesthetics, nature of art, aesthetic experience, beauty, truth & morality, he began his professional career in England and rapidly became a featured abstract artist at Clarendon, the World’s Leading Gallery Group. Unsurprisingly, his artworks have been in demand ever since and showcased in numerous galleries and venues including Clarendon London, Clarendon Liverpool, Aspex Portsmouth and Williamson Art Gallery & Museum. Zak Kirakosian is known particularly for his highly vibrant and textured abstract oil paintings, in which oil paint is arranged in meticulous patterns of shapes by the so called impasto oil technique. Central to Zak’s practice is the intention to break free from social expectations and let go of the obsession with perfection. Layer after layer, he breaks down the barriers within himself and delves deeper into the subconscious to find freedom and creativity in its abstract expression. Hidden memories and nostalgia are released to the surface in his search for a purpose in life. Through the physical layers of his works, conflicted feelings of suffering, pain and anger are being processed to make space for what comes next. For all that, underneath the apparent rawness lies a true appreciation of beauty in his unguarded, pure and unexpected brush strokes. The soft undertones reveal the aspiration of the artist to bring it back to simplicity and what really matters the most, the need for communication and deep human connection.
