Baobab created using a mixture of archival black ink and a simple ballpoint pen with rain water. A little paint to set the landscape behind. The artwork is on 5mm thick mount-board. Size A2.

This is the largest of my tree illustrations, and one of the most standout. It was a 3 full day piece, and extremely rewarding to frame at the end. The frame pictured is box frame. However I feel the artwork would sit well in a shallower frame, with or without mount (a grey mount would be striking).

View more from the collection at MSillo_Trees Instagram Trees by MSillo Trees fascinate us. Naturally beautiful, growing not for our aesthetic tastes, but for their own needs. Most people have a tree that stands out to them. A reminder of an important day, a childhood home, or just one you rely on to remain firmly rooted while life rushes past. I draw trees from real life, or ones I remember that inspire me. I use black pen, on hot or cold press 300gsm watercolour paper or mount board, some finished with watercolour. There is no pencil sketching beforehand, often I start with a few leaves and see where it goes. Each tree is entirely unique. I welcome commissions. If you have a particular tree or type/species in mind, I can work off photos sent over by you, or do my own tree species study. Commissions A5-A1, from £40. My sales and commissions have been through word of mouth prior to Saatchi, I am looking forward to joining the Saatchi community and am happy to provide reviews and examples of other work.
