ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Looking for photo's with some historical significance the painter chanced upon this one, a couple of road-workers standing over rail tracks, posing for the camera. They look sturdy and hard. Gruff men who dealt with a lot of hardships while working on the Panama canal. This is the second time they're working at it, this time under American supervision. A lot of them and their families died from diseases and accidents. All working to connect two oceans of trade to each other. This was the definitive sketch before the artist started work on the painting which is called 99-year lease.
