Platypus Drawing

In a series of drawings, Hélène Koopmans explores the contrast between the inside and the outside world. With minimal means an interior space is suggested in combination with an outside world: Who or what is on the inside, who or what is on the outside? By combining different, essentially non-matching, realistic images, alienating worlds arise. As a traveller through time, the spectator could become involved in these worlds. The drawings springing from my mind are often made with Indian ink and pencil. My drawing are inspired by everyday situations which could potentially turn into an absurd or confusing situation.
