Vera Almeida, b.1969 in Setúbal, Portugal. Graphic designer, artist and printmaker living and working in Lisbon. Nature inspires my work to explore shapes, dynamics, and meaning. Fascinated by the natural world, I focus on natural history illustration, drawing and painting. I use traditional media such as graphite, coloured pencils, pen-and-ink, watercolour, and acrylics. Currently, I am exploring the potentialities and challenges of printmaking, especially in intaglio processes (etching, aquatint and drypoint), to give voice to the creative potential of the medium.
