ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This head study was created for a first year university project (Universidad de Sevilla, BBAA/BFA) where we were asked to do a series of head studies from the statues in class. I chose Saint Hieronymous, my favourite of the statues in class, due to both his aesthetic and philosophy of ascetic penance. The decision to use silverpoint in place of graphite means that the particles will oxidise over time and change in hue, enriching the work as years go by, as happens with us humans.
