I am in love with the concept that we all have a raw and recognizable sincerity within. My paintings are my attempt to expose that sincerity. As an artist, use my body as a means of researching what it means to be human in our materially based society. Painting in the nude touches on issues of sexuality and body image or how I represent the figure in context to culture within my art. For me, the nude figure represents fundamental and instinctual behaviors, it strips us down to what we really are. In painting I focus on the materiality of the body as terrestrial beings who's behaviors and postures are automatic yet communicative. I have developed a style that is intimately provoking. The subject is usually engaging the viewer, telling and questioning, screaming yet silent. Often the poses are reminiscent of animal postures and squatting figures of cultures unlike our own. Although they evoke a rough, raw and earthbound creature, they also emulate an emotional presence. It is straightforward and guttural.
