Septembre Drawing

Sometimes drawings are more interesting for what you leave out. When I created this, I wanted to draw something minimal that still carried a lot of realism. I like that there's a hint of a smile on her lips, but when you look again, it appears she might be sad, or pensive. It's the exact feeling I get in September (Septembre in French), when I'm glad for cooler weather and fall colors, but sad to see summer go. I created this drawing using vine and willow charcoal, a variety of blending tools, charcoal pencils, and a kneadable eraser. This drawing is 10" wide by 14" tall. I used Koh-I-Noor Heavy Drawing paper, which is bright white, 185 GSM, and acid-free. This artwork has been sprayed with a clear fixative to help prevent the charcoal from smearing. It will ship flat, protected by a layer of glassine paper, sandwiched between two sheets of foam core board, sealed in a plastic bag for protection against water damage, then placed in a cardboard box. This drawing does not ship with any frame or hanging hardware.
