PAUL VOCA (born Paweł Wocial) in 1977, is an artist of Polish origin. He is a creator who utilizes various forms of expression, such as sculpture, installations, objects, drawings, scenography, video, and music videos. Between 1998 and 2003, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. In 2008, in collaboration with the Art Stations Foundation of Grażyna Kulczyk, he created a sculpture titled „Spirit of Ecstasy.” As the youngest artist to collaborate with the foundation, he presented this work at a solo exhibition at Stary Browar in Poznań. Also in 2008, he relocated to London, expanding his artistic activities into the field of design. During this period, he collaborated with Van Der Graaf Studio, where he realized numerous projects, including those for Lady Gaga, Alexander McQueen, the National Gallery in London, and The D*house Company. In 2011, by invitation from Peter Weibel and Bernhard Serexhe, he participated in the prestigious exhibition titled „Car Culture. Medien der Mobilität / Car Culture. Media of Mobility,” which took place at ZKM – Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany. Paul Voca was the only Polish artist to present his works alongside renowned creators such as Franz Ackermann, Erwin Wurm, Olaf Eliason, Li Hui and Peter Weibel. In 2013, invited by Jan Moeyaert, he took part in the Watou Art Festival in Belgium, where, among other artists like Marina Abramović, Tracey Emin, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Banksy, and Louise Bourgeois, he showcased the sculpture „The Hummingbird.” Alongside two poets, Wisława Szymborska and Adam Zagajewski, he served as Poland’s ambassador at the festival. In 2016, he participated in a monumental sculpture exhibition titled „5 tons of sculpture in Orońsko” at the Center of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko. Among the artists presenting their sculptures at this exhibition were Magdalena Abakanowicz, Marcin Berdyszak, Krzysztof M. Bednarski or Maciej Szańkowski. In the years 2017-2018, he twice consecutively participated in one of Europe’s largest exhibitions of contemporary art, „NordArt” at Kunstwerk Carlshütte, Büdelsdorf, Germany. He exhibited in the Polish Pavilion at NordArt 2022. He has numerous individual and collective exhibitions to his credit. His works have been showcased in various locations, including Monaco, London, Venice, Berlin, Paris, Cannes, Vienna, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Budapest.
