A new body of work always begins with realism. When I begin work with a new model, I start with realism. As an artist, you need to truly see what is in front of you before you can start seeing what lies beneath your subject's surface. Expression and abstraction are best served through observation and study first. This is the second drawing I made of my friend Stacey. She had never posed nude before. She came to pose for me because she loves art and wanted to contribute to my work. I like to let the models choose their own poses, and by doing so, the imagery is different and more natural. I believe in letting my sitters be themselves. In the past, I have worked in my model's home, where I discovered that when a model feels secure, a different kind of imagery and emotional quality can be had. Making someone feel comfortable at the studio can also have the same effect. This drawing is part of my ongoing intimate moments series. This pencil drawing is done on 140lb watercolour paper. The work is signed on the front by the artist. It comes accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Title: Stacey Size: 22 x 30 inches Medium: Graphite on paper

Stewart Fletcher’s paintings, drawings and works on paper have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past forty years. His paintings, drawings and works on paper are part of several private international collections in over 20 countries and in 36 American States. Known for his fascination with the human body, Fletcher explores various concepts beyond the representational image. The great equalizer he believes is when one's clothing is removed. All identifiers and societal statuses disappear and the real person appears. Fletcher does not believe that his work is erotic, however some people do because of their social, religious and regional upbringing. He often uses humour and satire to convey his views on the world around him..
