This work is influenced by being in New York City. It's buildings and structures go deep under the ground as well as tall. There are places that fall by the wayside, but are interesting in and of themselves. The deepest black charcoal is reserved to portray emptiness and coldness. This how it felt looking down into this staircase, not knowing what is beyond that cage doors. I didn't wait to find out.
