I made up the name, "The Far East Side," to refer to the Asian American majority and plurality neighborhoods of the San Gabriel Valley, both in reference to its location east of the Eastside region and a knowing reference to the Eurocentric concept of "the Far East." The map is meant to be an homage to the style of 18th century Chinese cartographer, Mo Yi Tong. It was included in a piece for my series, "Pan-Asian Metropolis."
