ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artwork measures H 100 x W 140 cm. Diptych. All materials are archival quality. STATEMENT The Ibis is an ancient bird seen in Egyptian Hieroglyphs as Thoth, maintainer of the Universe. This magnificant bird is maligned today however, it is us who created the mess that this bird now cleans up. The Ibis is a master of survival featuring in many of my artworks from 2011 to 2016. They are inspired by our ability to overcome adversity. Here the Ibis is depicted in the image of a moon and observing the wintery landscape. I enjoy drawing, Charcoal has beautiful qualities respectful of finished art. Charcoal has been utilized since ancient Paleolithic cave art. My style has developed out of what I have learned from Artists Andrew Sibley, George Baldessin and Professor Gerhard Herbst at RMIT, The wonderful art academy at BIAE (now Federation University) and from art history research. Within each mark made is the artist's essence.
