ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Mute Effect 2 is part of the Mute Effect Series. This piece is centered around human rights and freedom of speech. This piece was inspired by the increase in reports of rape and domestic violence. Many victims of abuse are either silenced or antagonized in an effort to speak up for their rights. The piece of clothe covering the figure's mouth represents the elaborate that society uses to silence such victims.

Art is an escape from reality. Creating art gives me a sense of purpose and achievement. I have been practicing art for as long as I can remember and that constant practice has helped me to improve over the years. Many of my pieces focus on the ills of the society and human identity. I use pen as a medium for my pieces because of its unpredictability and permanence. I also create a wide range of digital arts. I currently study visual arts at the University of Lagos.
