GJ Albers works are inspired by the tradition of symbolists and surrealists but he uses contemporary techniques. His images are recognisable at first sight but there's mostly more happening than meets the eye. Looking at the pictures multiple times they reveal themes like environmental decay, war, escapism and transhumanism. Sometimes grave and sometimes tongue in cheek.
