"Tonal Face." Drawing

Date of birth.The seventh of june 1977. Studied design at Brighton technical college on the south coast of England. Then Furniture and Interior Design at London Guildhall and Brunel universities. I travelled across Europe researching and visiting museums, galleries and churches. I became influenced by everything from classical painting and sculpture, to the modern masters and also different architecture and design styles. After university I became interested in fine art contemporary oil painting. Started NicholasGebbettArts.website in 2004. I am mainly self taught. Through creative processes. I develop ideas from drawing onto the canvas using charcoal, Conte and pastel. Then the use of high quality Oil paints. Old Holland Oils. Techniques washes and layers of oil paint refined linseed oil, This is then applied to primed cotton canvas. Small and medium sizes are on stretched canvases delivered in a cardboard box or crate and large canvas paintings can be transported rolled in a tube. All the paintings are in a structured format of centimeters ranging in size from 50 by 50 cm to 150cm by 120cm which can then be applied onto standard modern stretchers. Nearly all of the Images I have on Saatchi art are available in prints! Different size fine art paper and even printed onto Canvas, you can see this by clicking on the individual paintings. Experimentation with abstraction, geometry and abstract figurative. These subjects cover the use of abstract perspective and a mathematical geometric measured approach that links fine art with maths. Developed a new style that I call Dimensionalism. Also the use of different levels of figurative abstraction from almost completely abstract figurative to more realistic subjects. Cubism and abstract compositions. Some paintings are from observation but the main collection of work is purely imaginary. I am a strong believer in the creative process and have over 12 years experience using Oils onto canvas. Some of the paintings are very large and have had multiple development phases taking months of work and even years to complete.
