About The Artwork

"Transition of a shadow V" is a work made with pencils on paper that belongs to "A reflection on the body shadows" which is an artistic project that I am developing since the beginning of 2016. My aim is to reflect on one encounter with the body image that is built in relation to corporeality experience. Here, I understand corporeality as a network of emotions, sensations and thoughts that give us a sense of what we are, produced by our internal body system in response to environment and the others. I focus my observation on the sense of that corporeality made of latent matter that is almost imperceptible, that one that remains in the shadow of consciousness. I use my own body as a medium to generate spontaneous productions where I explore different states originated between movement and stillness. Starting from any thought, emotion or sensation that comes up at that moment I intend to make contact with those latencies laying on the body deepest layers. This, that is recorded with video, becomes the first study and work of a process followed by the use of other artistic languages. As the creative process unfolds it unveils an intimate gaze on my sense of corporeality, while it intends to become a proposal for the viewer to wonder and reflect about their own experience.

I am interested in the creative process as a means to trigger and understand perceptual experiences that I use to add sense and definition to the corporeal phenomenon.
