THOMAS LAMB (b. 1978, UK) Studied BA Fine Art Painting, MA Drawing Wimbledon School of Art, London (1997 - 2001). Awarded the Sainsbury Scholarship in Painting and Sculpture, British School at Rome (2001 - 2003), and the Prince of Wales Bursary for the Arts, Athens (2006). Group exhibitions include Responding to Rome at the Estorick Collection of Modern Art, London and Hyogo International Competition of Painting, Hyogo Museum of Art, Kobe, Japan and a three person show at Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan. Most recently shortlisted for the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize (2018) Previous works included in the Discerning Eye and the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition Mall Galleries (2013/14) In 2021 he held his fifth solo exhibition at Browse & Darby, London (2008/11/14/17/21) Thomas Lamb's current work is involved with landscape, its transformation through the seasons, and our engagement with this transformation. He creates images which deepen the viewer's sensation of reality. 'I am concerned with the visual and tactile elements of perception and want to make paintings which envelope and engage the viewer through the use of space, light and colour' Every picture begins with direct observation and is engaged with the process of depiction and the way in which this integrates perception, memory, and imagination.
