My work privileges gesture, process and materiality. This piece is made of wood ash and acrylic blue on paper. The ambient surplus of visual and verbal information encourages me to propose a practice that is based on instinct and whose exchange is on a physical and emotional level rather than an intellectual one. Before the word there is perception. Favoring natural materials (coal, earth, pigments, stones, gold) my works reveal the expressive possibilities of the material and are inscribed in a tangible reality. Each element is chosen for its singularity, its intrinsic beauty and its visual presence. The resulting narrative is personal to each artist and is not imposed from the start. Roughness is sought in that it corresponds to the living, natural and mineral world. The reduction of the aesthetic vocabulary coincides with the desire to free oneself from too much individuality and to go towards a certain sobriety. Several themes nevertheless emerge such as the search for immensity, our relationship to natural space such as panoramas and deserts, the notion of ascent and fall.

The practice of Louise Van Reeth is grounded in an exploration of the expressive and emotional power of material and color. Whether in painting or in the rest of her works, she attempts to reveal the visual richness of the color/material alliance and its capacity to resonate with our inner energies and vibrations. Her works celebrate the materiality of art as an open door to an 'elsewhere' that belongs to the realm of sensation and a certain quest for freedom, liberated from the immediacy of life to reach deeper levels of emotional and spiritual awareness. Through subtle references to landscape, traces, and textures, her paintings invite us to immerse ourselves in them, experiencing a form of serenity and self-forgetfulness that is characteristic of an immersive experience devoid of intellectualization. They offer an invitation to tranquility and rest for the soul in an increasingly disconnected world, bringing us back to the very essence of the positive experience of simply living, here and now. "The artistic act and gesture provide me with deep satisfaction and breathe spirit into matter." Her works emit a unique vibration and energy that each person can receive and appreciate according to their own personal narrative. Inspired by both American Color Field Painting and Italian Arte Povera, her inspiration also comes from the textures of the landscape, the patterns of a leaf, or the shimmering of a stone. "It seems to me that nature and art share this unique power to provide us with profound well-being, purified of society's artifices." The simple forms and vibrant colors in Louise Van Reeth's work transcend mere representation of the external world to reach a deeper, more universal meaning.
