About The Artwork

This work is on Mylar film, a translucent matte surface and is meant to be viewed against a white background. Liquid graphite was applied to the surface capturing reflective shapes as they dried, and colored ink was applied. Additional abstract shapes were applied via collage. My work is heavily inspired by the both classic mid-century formalism as well as contemporary abstraction. influences include colorfield artists like Helen Frankenthaler and Morris Louis as well as postmodernists like Ross Bleckner, Philip Taaffe and Christopher Wool.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My work is a formal exploration of the 'language' of abstraction, whereby the various marks (drips, stains, brush strokes, etc) normally associated with spontaneous painterly action are performed off-site and re-presented in a manner that references digital and/or non-linear methods of image creation. The finished artwork is, despite its spontaneous appearance, a hybrid of painting and collage that has been realized slowly over time through much consideration. Richard Feaster received an MFA in Painting from Tulane University, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He has exhibited widely in the US and abroad, including the National Academy Museum, City University of New York and the Cheekwood Museum. His work has has been featured in the periodical New American Paintings, among others. Collections include the FirstBank Janet & Jim Ayer’s Collection of Tennessee Art, the Music City Center and the Thompson Hotel. He lives and works in Nashville, TN.
