Untitled Drawing

I am mainly interested in reactivating and reflecting on utopian moments of the past. My approach to this subject is in using both historical and contemporary images. Collective memory is just one aspect of the work, I want to create an overlap between historical and current events. In my work I am using drawing as the most fundamental practice and a way to grasp and make sense of paradoxes /reality. Visual source material are documentary photographs, film stills, architectural project drafts, posters and propaganda whose original context had vanished. Drawings are intentionally pale and "soft" as a way of making a statement; by transferring a photo into repetitive pencil marks on paper surface I'm making it more indirect. Process is meditative and slow as a contrast to mainstream way of living where rush and overproduction is celebrated.
