About The Artwork
This work is part of a large series entitled "Thiepval Wood" which is mostly made up of paintings. The series was inspired by my reading of "The First Day on the Somme" by the British historian Martin Middlebrook, and was recently shown in the Stadarchiv Museum in Friedricshafen Germany as part of the centenial commemoration of the First World War.
