ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I used only dots of water-based ink for this artwork. Style: pointillism. My drawing depicts a young fashionable African woman wearing the traditional attire of the Yoruba of the South West of Nigeria, West Africa. Her top is called a buba. It is made from lace fabric. Her wrapper around her waist is made of heavy indigenous silk fabric called aṣọ òkè. Her head wrap is called a gele. She is wearing gold jewelry and 4 inch high leather and cork platform shoes - my favourite type of shoes! The Iro and buba is has varied in length of time. Particularly in the 60s and 90s it was worn short. The drawing is on off-white Strathmore Bristol paper. Dimension: 25 x 33 cm It will be shipped in a box.
