My artistic training is the result of meetings in various Parisian workshops and a diligent practice of drawing. My style has been built over the years. Since a few years, I realize mainly portraits. I use many techniques especially charcoal which gives me a real sense of freedom. I do not know of a medium that offers as much strength in the lines and finesse in the shadows, as fast and easy to use and requiring as little reloading that allows to work in one go. I like the idea that charcoal is the oldest medium used to draw. As for color inks (or acrylic colors), they accompany my drawings to cover and fix them without making them disappear. In some series, I draw the charcoal face while the rest of the sheet is embedded in an almost abstract background, often colored. To keep the spontaneity of the drawing, I work in a short time, according to living model. The time constraint is good because it forces you to get to the point. I perceive drawing as a language made of lines and colors through which express a vision of the world, emotions, a style. It is an endless quest, a work without any possible outcome. In my studio, alone in front of a white sheet, I hope that the next drawing will be stronger than the previous one, express the unspeakable, mark a break and open an unexplored path, a new space of freedom. I'm waiting for the spark. The artistic experience is often cruel, sometimes exhilarating.
