"Dumb" Drawing

Speaking by images. Drawing by words. I can well recall the time of day, but I can’t remember the year. It must be around 8 o’clock in the morning. I am having a cup of tea in one of the few coffeehouses in my hometown Stuttgart. As always I am waiting for an unexpected thought to fly by. One image, maybe one word to be kept. And all of a sudden there it is. An idea appears right before my inner eye. So I take a note in my sketchbook and some days later that note gets me to an artwork. This moment is most likely related to boredom. But over time it became a ritual to me and a source for an ongoing series of drawings, paintings and collages, mostly on paper. My name is Roman Mares and I work since 1989 as a copywriter, strategic consultant and designer in the field of corporate communication.
