Working largely in a non-linear context, abstract, experimental or art brut, using various formats within the work, from 35mm film to oils, acrylics and charcoal. The work is an ode to the ideal of simplicity. Statement “creating art and film is a representation of the nihilistic state of my inner mind, whilst trying to reach towards a utopian vision. Consistently held back by the restraints of the institutions, organisations and social bonds of reality.” In my work I attempt to communicate my idealism. One of deconstruction. To see something, remove it from its immediate surroundings, to reinterpret, and present again. I grew up in the north of england, a village that once catered multiple mills and factories, the most visible being the paper mill that straddled the now disused manchester, bolton & bury canal. The smells and sounds that were spread from that area have long held in my mind. The factory itself was an early identifier to my own concept of work. That you can take something and place it where it does not belong. This is not necessarily an attempt to explain my work, but more my mindset when creating this work. Though it should all be taken lightly, as I, like everything else, am a hypocrite. A member of the international arts group arts secession cabal.
