About The Artwork
Big blue is the first in a collection of expressive coloured illuminated artworks. Made up of thin tiles of porcelain that glow when lit. The porcelain is painted using coloured porcelain slips and also carved into to give a depth of surface and textural interest. The work is inspired by the sea and waves and is an expression of the feeling of sea swimming, being submerged in water and being in and around the waves. The porcelain tiles are pinned with nickel screws into the LED light panel. The light panel can be mains wired but the piece is supplied with a 3m length of woven fabric cord. The artwork has a picture wire and can be hung with regular wall fixings.
