Its Nabila Nabi , born in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1991. I have completed post graduation from the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka and awarded the highest score from my department. My medium of work is tapestry, in which my MFA was conducted. My work is inspired by the traditional materials, folklore and nature of Bangladesh. I always do the work t to express the spiritual relations between the figures and elements of nature such as animals (bird, fish, elephant, cow, snakes) those are also iconic in Bengali myths and literature. Mostly i do work in woolen and jute threads as well as the traditional fabrics called ‘Gamcha’. I also love to work with the medium of batik painting. I have exhibited my tapestry works in several exhibitions in Bangladesh and many group exhibitions across the globe including 7th and 8th Beijing international art biennial. Moreover my first tapestry solo exhibitions at Alliance Française de Chittagong in 2018. Throughout my journey, i have achieved the 3rd prize in ‘Japan Rinri Art Festival’ which was hosted by Gloria foundation of Bangladesh and Cultural Ministry of Japan in 2014. I have also worked as a fashion designer in some prominent fashion houses in Bangladesh; At present i am working as a freelance artist.
