ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Carnação" is a work that belongs to the Rasgo Series, a research that I have been developing since 2018. This series consists of weavings produced on a 160 x 180 cm nail loom in which I use materials from domestic use, such as bedsheet fabrics, pillowcases or quilts, placemats, “kitchen sets”, tablecloths and dishcloths that are torn and turned into yarn to serve as material to build the wefts. The act of tearing things apart from the house, articles belonging to this almost sacralized place as a feminine space and of private life, has a certain weight and is coupled with a desire for rupture. A process of dismantling things that no longer have “usefulness” or are no longer loved, in order to transform them into other things. “Undoing to redo” is not just a stage of material transformation, which is also important, since it implies taking responsibility for what accumulates, consumption habits and, above all, the disposal of what is no longer useful.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

In my work, I explore textile materials and procedures to produce constructions, sensory and wearable objects that relate to space as a way to produce photographs, performances, videos and installations. I investigate the ritualistic dimension of handicrafts as a practice of reinvention, tensioning notions of identity and belonging, of fictionalized bodies to create fables about other natures and relationships between the feminine and the domestic. I am interested in using second-hand materials, things discarded and accumulated over time to speculate on the memory load of these materialities and as a strategy to interfere in the fate and permanence of things in the world.
