I am a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of textile, painting, and installation. My practice engages ancestral weaving techniques alongside unconventional materials—remnants, discarded objects, and industrial debris—to examine migration, modernity, and transculturation as forces that shape collective identities. Material operates as both structure and metaphor. Discarded elements evoke the migratory condition—marked by displacement and loss, but also by resilience, adaptation, and reinvention—while referencing the ingenuity of Lima’s informal economy. I am drawn to the popular as a site of continuous transformation, where identities remain fluid and culture is constantly reconfigured. My work brings into dialogue the precarious and the symbolic, the ancestral and the contemporary, reflecting the layered and often contradictory dynamics of urban life in Lima. Ultimately, my practice points toward the possibility of a shared identity and the imagining of a “possible country,” where difference becomes the foundation for new forms of collective belonging.
