Floating Floors explores the idea of a building twisted, lifted, and stacked vertically, as if its floors have shifted out of alignment and begun to hover. The composition reads as an architectural section pulled apart, revealing layers, structure, and shadow rather than a fixed façade. Different h...

I am a Los Angeles–based artist working primarily in wood, translating the natural world into abstract, minimalist forms through marquetry and sculptural relief. My work explores landscape, architecture, and organic structure, using natural hardwoods to create depth, rhythm, and quiet visual tension. Rather than depicting nature literally, I reduce it to essential shapes and relationships. Mountains become planes, buildings become grids, and familiar forms dissolve into silhouette and structure. Grain, tone, and shadow replace color, allowing the material itself to define space and movement. The result is work that exists between representation and abstraction, grounded in restraint and clarity. My practice is deeply informed by a 25-year background in musical instrument building. That discipline instilled a sensitivity to proportion, precision, and the emotional presence of finely made objects. The skills developed through shaping instruments now guide my approach to art, where balance, resonance, and material honesty remain central. Each piece is built by hand, emphasizing craftsmanship, intention, and longevity. The work invites slow viewing and close attention, offering a quiet dialogue between nature, form, and material.
