I am fascinated by nature's metamorphosis. In the case of butterflies, a transformation begins as a small egg -- symbol of fragility yet also strength -- to evolve through the "ugly" stage of caterpillar and pupa, transitioning to burst forth as a stunning, flitting of bright or subtle color. How amazing! When I was a child the "Lady Bug, Lady Bug, Your House Is On Fire" nursery rhyme was a warning used by my mother to avoid dangerous situations. I created a chrysalis here from PLA, plant-based, biodegradable plastic, using 3D printing. Inside is 'nectar' made of poured resin and mixed media, from which many stunning butterflies emerge to fly across the wall. Each butterfly has been hand stitched and is absolutely unique; some are also painted with wonderful colors and patterns. The shelf is included and attaches to the wall very easily with either 2 or 4 screws. The butterflies attach with strong stainless steel banker pins that tap through the butterflies and are provided. This is a really extraordinary piece, one that will most certainly be the catalyst for conversation and much enjoyment. It can be installed different ways...perhaps the butterflies cluster together more, or fly up onto the ceiling! A really amazing piece that is one of my own favorites.
Please note: Hangs easily by small banker pins (provided). This work will be shipped with the pcs. wrapped and stacked and fits into a small box. Please speak with saatchiart regarding adjusting the shipping cost due to this.
