"Milujem folklor." ("I love folklore.")

2012 - 2019

Materials used: silicone, epoxy resin, plaster, polyurethane elastomer, artificial flowers, dead taxidermy pheasants, salt, vermicompost, polystyrene, ceramic and metal readymade components, metal ladder, table, tablecloth and other.

Installation views from the same name exhibition in September 2019 in Kosice, Slovakia.

The exhibition "I love folklore" reacts in a broader context to the escalating situation in the area of Slovak republic in recent years, referring to the growing social radicalization characterised by a rise in extreme nationalism, accompanied by racist, xenophobic and anti-multicultural attitudes.
In parallel, (what is claimed to be) traditional folklore is increasingly infiltrated into popular culture and everyday life, too often in such a manner that degenerates it into a mere kitschy slave, used for economical and political purposes. The sentence "I love folklore." is hollowed, folk elements are kidnapped and unwittingly mistaken, while the nationalists' chests are proudly beaten and "multiculturalism" is hatefully spat in the same breath. Social tension, hatred and fear even reach the point, where having a different nationality, culture or physiognomy may lead to a physical assault of an individual.
All this is happening ahead of huge challenges which brings the Anthropocene to mankind as a whole.

(I guess the shipping and handling costs automatically calculated by the formulary for the artwork upload as high as 10 000$ (already included in the price you see), need not be actually that high - depending on country.)
