Letter to my unborn child (series ) - Limited Edition 1 of 1 Installation

Living a life almost nomadic in nature and rich with experiences also reminds me of my solitude. I distilled all those agonies into my artworks. They are also a time machine to recreate time lost and the reminder of sacrifices I had to endure. I weave those experiences like a tapestry and recreate those personal experiences. I use materials that are part of my existence and physical self. I use my hair as a thread to stitch baby dresses, adult attires or blankets to give them an intimate touch. Embroidery is deeply rooted in the tradition of Bangladesh. Intending to deconstruct its power of narration, I have introduced fabric with embroidery into my art. Still, instead of the thread, I began to use my hair, and I have also started to use my fingerprints as a drawing tool. I used all these elements to search for my identity and create an unbreakable bridge of ownership with an inseparable part of me. For me, the needle symbolises a healer, used to create the bond and my hair, dead yet constantly growing hair, expresses the eternal cycle of life imbibed with love and promise.
