Resisting the temptation of falling into the trap of living in the fast lane and accumulating those possessions that flow in and out of our daily lives and leave indelible marks could serve as a starting point for every creative spirit. There is no doubt that this resistance is the driving force behind Andrea Ciresola's painting, a driving force in total harmony with his very being, with the way he is himself in every other area of his life. Imagine telling the story of a Man, lost in the maze of life, reduced to a mere machine of desire, possessed by the very objects with which he fills his life and yet believes he possesses, intent on carrying out a task; as a painter, an artist, that of being part of a privileged outpost opposed to the Man who unwittingly becomes his own prisoner. Andrea Ciresola, in his own particular suggests a way of doing this: Look for the mystery hidden in objects which to all appearances seem to have none. Is this perhaps the reason why Andrea Ciresola, born and brought up in a city, has chosen to live in a country village? Is this perhaps why he has been doing the same fascinating job as a restorer for many years and yet still lives with the hope of doing something else? Even in this work (and with these doubts) Andrea Ciresola feels it important to point out the inadequacy of the role he plays, knowing, as he does, about the difficulties there are in finding new convincing ways of communicating ideas. Andrea Ciresola's preferred means of communication have been, and continue to be, writing short stories and novels, the theatre, expressive arts which, just like his painting, allow him to resist the temptation and bear witness to his own particular way of life, his modus vivendi. Andrea Ciresola was born in Verona, Italy in 1961 and has worked in Art Restoration and Conservation since 1982.
