About the Artist

Oleg Degtyarenko

Kazakhstan

An object's greatest value is not its age. It is the life it has
witnessed.

That belief shapes everything I create.

I work with objects that have already lived alongside people—
musical instruments, furniture, and forgotten artifacts whose
original purpose has come to an end, but whose meaning has not.

Rather than restoring the past, I extend it. Each piece remains
unmistakably connected to its previous life while becoming a
unique work of functional art—a sculpture, a light, or an object
meant to be lived with for generations to come.

I am not interested in nostalgia, and I do not see these objects
as relics. I see them as witnesses. Their marks, imperfections,
and quiet presence are not flaws to erase but evidence of a
human story.

My work is created for collectors who value more than
craftsmanship or rarity. They seek objects with depth—works that
reward time, invite reflection, and continue revealing themselves
long after the first impression.

Because the rarest thing an artwork can possess is not
uniqueness.
It is a past.
