About The Artwork

My wall sculptures are completely customizable in color, size of individual panels, size and shape of overall design. It is perfect for bringing an uplifting feeling to any space, whether it is in a corporate entry or a living room. When I show wall sculptures at a show or post photos on social media, I always get comments about how bright and fun the wall sculpture is. I brought a set of nine blue panels to a recent art show. People would immediately walk over and stand in front of it. They would then tell me how lovely the combination of blues was. Mostly they said it reminded them of the sea. The pictured wall sculpture includes 15 pieces, 10" x 10" x 1.5" (each), with four inch spacing. As pictured, the total size is 66" x 38" x 1.5". Of course, these can be hung in any configuration you like. My Wall of Color wall sculpture series harkens back to my love of look of big, bold fields of color against a white wall. Each of these pieces is a layered abstract landscape painted on a wood panel. The black sides really makes the already brightly colored landscapes really pop. Please contact me if you have a space in which you need uplifting colorful large artwork. I can design something consisting of panels of all the same size or different sizes. One of my most recent designs was for a client who needed to hide a large electrical panel. I designed a set of panels, one large panel to go over the electrical panel and the rest in various sizes to fit in with the large panel. The client was ecstatic about how perfect it looked on her wall. Contact me and I will create a design for you, too. Note: Because computer screens vary on color representation, the colors may not match exactly to what is pictured. Also, I make each piece by hand, so the brush strokes in the piece I make for you will not match exactly to the brush strokes in the item description. Clients have always loved what I make for them.

Hi! I am Paula Gibbs, an abstract artist living in Tucson, AZ. It took a near-death experience in 2012 to turn me into an artist. It was my first day home after winning a battle with advanced stage pneumonia, one which most people lose. That day I had what I suppose was an epiphany. Suddenly art had to be in my life. It is quite odd because not for one second had I ever considered being an artist. Why would I? Art was something for people with creative talent and the skill to bring ideas into the physical world. That certainly did not describe me. Having no art education, my recovery was spent researching, and later I experimented with many mediums. For the last few years I settled on working with metal, aluminum actually. I created my own unique style of lightly distressing sheet metal, painting it and mounting to wood panels. What I refer to as my metal art is distressed (sometimes not) and painted aluminum mounted on wood panels. The style is truly unique. I am fairly certain you won’t find anything like it. Even my simpler pieces involve a long (to me anyway) process of creating a design, measuring, cutting, sanding, and usually distressing the metal. Then, I paint it, usually with enamel, and more sanding. I sand by hand because that is the only way to achieve the look I want. In an effort to work on a medium that is “softer” (and without edges sharp as razor blades) and less physical, I have turned my attention to painting on canvas, and on wood panels as multi-piece large installations/wall sculptures. My canvas painting is still in exploration mode. My colorful wall sculptures, which I termed Wall of Color, are completely customizable in size, color, overall layout. For some reason each individual bright glossy panel reminds me of Chiclets.
