The abstracted marks, codes, and vertical strokes evoke memory, language, and the scaffolding of the world into which the child gazes. Pratima Aravabhoomi is a self-taught Indian-born American artist who currently lives and works out of greater Tampa area FL and Princeton, NJ. She often refers to her work as human scapes—landscapes of emotion and memory in which layered textures and subtle figures chart the unseen terrains of the inner world. Her process is deeply intuitive, driven by a fascination with what lies beneath the surface: unspoken emotions, forgotten memories, and the silent spaces between thought and expression. Through the use of texture and translucent layering, she invites viewers to wander these internal landscapes and uncover their own hidden narratives. Raised in India and now based in Florida, her practice reflects the contrasts between cultures, languages, and environments. Her work explores themes of belonging, transformation, and the quiet, often invisible forces that shape human experience. Aravabhoomi’s work is featured in galleries and private collections across North America.
