About the Artist

Sergey Yablonsky

Spain

In my artistic practice, I explore the conceptual aesthetic of objects through various styles, including abstract, surrealism, dada, absurdism, irony, and misplaced situations. My work encompasses a range of mediums, including photography, digital art, painting, graphics, and sculpture.
I began my artistic career in my early thirties when I joined the Society of Experimental Fine Arts, the largest artistic avant-garde movement in the former Soviet Union. The group of artists, based in St. Petersburg, organized regular exhibitions showcasing a "new" art five years prior to the rise of Perestroika in the Soviet Union. During the 1980s, my paintings were regularly exhibited at these shows.
In addition to traditional mediums, I have been working in digital art and digital photography since the 2000s. Starting with raster images in Adobe Photoshop, vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, and 3D objects in Maya/ 3ds Max, I have now added various text-to-image AI-driven art services like GAN & DALL·E 2 OpenAI to my toolkit for creating artworks. My latest series of mixed media works push the boundaries between digital and physical art creation. Using generative and machine learning algorithms, they offer collectors a wide variety of unique artworks to choose from, featuring energetic splashes of color and form.
My works have been featured in the Russian Museum, Museum of Art of Saint Petersburg XX-XXI Centuries, and the Museum of Nonconformist Art in St. Petersburg, as well as in private collections in Russia, Spain, the USA, Israel, and France.
Due to moral and political convictions from March 2022 I’m based in Jaen, Spain.
