One of a series of portraits of famous figures from American history, as viewed in the long gallery of an imaginary Gothic mansion. The series investigates notions of identity and mystery, reality and myth using a blend of pop and surrealism to create a ghostly re-imagining of received actuality. Reference points are Francis Bacon, Rene Magritte and Andy Warhol. My printing is done at the Print Space in Hoxton, London (specialists in fine art and professional photography) onto acid-free Hahnemuhle German Etching 310 gsm archival art paper. Please note, the actual size of this print is 40.1 x 34.5 inches to which I add a 4-inch white border all around, so 48.1 x 42.5 inches is the size to consider for framing purposes. If you click on 'view in a room' it will give you a good idea of how it will look on your wall. I should add that one of the most frequent questions I get from potential buyers is about pricing, so let me break down how that works. 30% goes to Saatchi in commission. Printing can cost from $80-$250 per print, depending on size. I oversee printing personally and only sign off when I'm happy with the result. Each image will take me days, sometimes weeks, to complete, so you're also paying for the time and expertise invested in each work, plus all that intangible stuff we call 'the creative process'.

Started out in fine art, switched to photography, film and video before finding a niche in journalism, covering music, film and entertainment in London, Sydney and Tokyo. In 2003, I packed in journalism to work part-time in marketing and (more importantly) become a full-time dad. This gave me a lot more at-home time, and the chance to get into digital print-making, a medium that I have been exploring ever since.
