About The Artwork

The artwork inspired by Tamara de Lempicka's "La Musicienne", painted in Paris, 1929. For the character of the musician, who plays a lute-like modern mandolin, Lempicka chose her female lover, Ira Perrot and painted her as an allegory of music. It is not just a simply reproduction, the string artwork was created with the use of the innovative, modern technique, having nothing to do with classical painting. Our string artwork is a part of art project dedicated to Tamara de Lempicka, the great Polish Art Deco diva. One of de Lempicka's art collectors called Tamara the first Pop Star of the century. The artwork is made ONLY and exclusively with thread in different colors/types/thicknesses. ONLY the thread is responsible for creating the entire picture, nothing is painted underneath! We don't use any painting technique. Our technique of colorful, photorealistic string art is still very little known. There are only a few artists in the whole world who can create this kind of artworks. A string portrait in the full range of colors can be an extraordinary element of interior design, regardless of its style - modern, classic, minimalist. String paintings will find a place in practically every arrangement. We have our own know-how, methods we were working on over two years, which guarantees an original and unique look. To create a string art we use a computer program we created ourselves from the ground up, to become our work tool. So, first in a computer we're creating a project of the artwork. We're planning it very precisely, until we're satisfied. It usually takes several to over a dozen hours. When it's ready, our next step is to create the actual artwork directly in line with the project. This stage takes not hours, but days.

The Vistulart project was formed to create a series of collaborative works we had in our minds from a long time. There are two of us, Dariusz Plutecki and Dagmara Świrska, a scientific mind and a humanist. We’re both self-taught artists based in Warsaw, Poland. We’re working together as the new media art duo and it is not a secret we’re also a couple in private live. Our passionate pursuit of art was one of the things that brought us to each other over 14 years ago and got us where we’re now. We create the photorealistic and colorful string art works. In other words, we create "paintings" using nothing else but miles of a sewing thread in different colors, types and thicknesses. ONLY the thread is responsible for creating the entire picture. Nothing is painted underneath, we don't use any painting technique. Our adventure with this technique has started over two years ago, with pandemic time. Lockouts and all the stay-at-home orders were an opportunity for us to live for a passion, to concentrate on what we love and start a new chapter. Dariusz spent months creating a proprietary techniques and finally he got us our own working tool. Then it took some more months to consider we’re ready to lay our artworks before the public. We’re trying to explore new areas, being innovative by looking for new subjects. We’re particularly searching for objects no one has tried before in this technique, like iconic buildings or cars, but the main dominant motif in our works is the beauty of a human being. Currently we’re developing new, inspiring collaborations and another exhibits. We hope our art will evoke a pleasant emotions and people will enjoy our string art paintings, as much as we enjoy creating it. About us: - - - - - - -
