ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This drawing was inspired by a photography my father, who is a retired geologist, took of a basalt formation in Missouri. I used the incredible detail of the rocks as an inspiration, and rendered them in Sakura ink pens, then juxtaposing that with the white space and the yellow road lines, which are rendered in watercolor pencil. The artwork is watercolor paper stretched onto a wooden frame, so it is paper but appears as a canvas painting. It is framed with a silver and white floater frame.
